Default electrical ghost

My '04 E-320 4-matic wagon will suddenly die while driving and read "dash guage failure". There are several fuse blocks in the car and I have isolated it to the one in the rear storage compartment. If I tug on the wiring harness the dash suddenly comes alive and the car will start and be happy. Any clues as to where to find the bad contact? Also the ride control indicator is now displaying but the car sits fine. Is this part of the ghost? This car has 52K on it and our local Benz dealer just went belly-up. Bob

Find another dealer. This was all part of the big recall on the electrical system and they should resolve the problem.

Thanks for your candid response. This is my 4th E-320 wagon in a row over the last 8 years and I must say that the Chrysler affect got progressively worse! Front end components wearing out sooner, brake rotors warping prematurely, rust out of the body etc...etc... But what I am proud to say is that I never paid too much for these cars! They were ALL storm salvage cars from a source that I can trust and therefore they were bought as JUNK "totals" before they really became my junk! Ironically none of these cars had any problems that were not factory issues to begin with such as the prematurely rattling of the baffles in the catalytic converters. Oh well, at least I know what I got and did not have great expectations....but why is it that MBNA is always in denial about their product? Perhaps that is why Lexus kicked them through the goal posts of life!? Regards, Bob.

Hey ohlord and all you other '04 E320 Wagon owners! My mechanic...thank God he is NOT MB certified!!! found the problem in the main harness that connects to the rear fuse block. The issue was that the plug in connector was not fully pressed into the fuse block and was causing the car to go intermittent on a dash code and it would just die. Car runs fine now and it only took 1 hour to find it. I wonder what MBUSA would say about this? Oh, thats right, I have 53K on the car and its out of warranty!##*** Now about the stereo...
