noob to the forum...i did a search for what i was looking for and couldnt find anything regarding the problems i'm having.

I have a 2000 E430 sport. runs beautifully, but ive been having problems recently with some warning indicators going off randomly.

- ESP/BAS warning indicators (telling me that they are not working properly) have been coming on at random drives. they havent been going off all the time, but very sporadically.
- the oil level low/sensor warning lights have been coming on recently as well. we took it in for this a while back, but the dealer told us that everything seemed fine. he said we might have to replace the sensor, which will cost around $400-500.

i was wondering if anyone else have encountered similar problems and how it was resolved. i used to drive this car all the time without any problems, but it is nearing its 60k miles, and im feeling more and more apprehensive about driving it. everytime we drive it, one of either of the warning lights are going off randomly. we are taking the car in for its checkup tomorrow, but i wanted to know if anyone had similar problems and if i could see if there were other things we should be looking for/inquiring about before we had major work done to the car.

BAS Operates If:
• Speed >8 km/h (5mph)
• BAS release switch operated
• No faults recognized
• Switch on threshold of pedal speed recognized
or
• ESP or Distronic request

BAS Cancellation
BAS is switched off if:
• BAS release switch not operated
• Speed <3 km/h (1.8mph)
• No signal from stop light switch (S9)
• A BAS fault is recognized
• Request cancelled from ESP or Distronic
