Default '83 300d - Is this hood going to fly off?

I'm new here and my 300d t is only on day 2 with me. I've noticed that over 65 mph that the hood starts to shake quite a bit. It flutters a bit on the outside edges near the front. I checked the hinges, all is locked down and the front hinge is locked tight too. Is this normal for this type of body style? Is there something I should be looking at under the hood or is there something missing from my car? It would seem that the hood would be much sturdier than the flutter would suggest. Any help would be much appreciated!

If you are talking about the hood vibrating, that is normal. Both of my diesel cars did that a little. But when it is locked, it should be locked tight. No actual physical movement.

Thanks for the responses. That someone else has seen this before is encouraging. I once had a 1975 VW rabbit that had some rust on the front of the hood. At about 65mph the hood gave way and flattened itself against the windshield. Good thing I had the side window down at the time. I'll check it out again today. But if it's the front latch it doesnt seem to vibrate/flutter there. It flutters on the extreme outsides in the front and back. I was really wondering if the hood was missing some structural underneath making it less rigid.

Like other cars there are rubber hood bumpers at the forward corners of the body. Either the hood latch needs to be lowered slightly or the bumpers screwed out to raise them. The hood should not flutter. Usually just raising the corner bumpers should correct the flutter.

Thanks for that info. I did notice that the bumpers seem adjustable. I'll play around with them.
