Default E430 cataletic convertor

1999 E430 My wife is going on a 10 day road trip and the cataletic convertors are making all kinds of noise. Can these be cut off and replaced with a pipe insert without hurting anything or effecting the way the car runs. I can put in the inserts. I have ordered new convertors but they will not be in before she has to go.

Order the cats from racepages?or someplace else,we always like to find new suppliers.
you can splice in a section of tubing just disconnect the pre cat o2 sensors, cel will trigger and she will complain that it is to loud but in a pinch what else can you do?Rent her a car for the trip if cutting into the system poses too much of a problem.

As an after thought, most wives are not going to be happy with the increased noise level, and the engine may be searching for the correct rich/lean state and run a bit off.If it were my wife and she dosen't mind our race cars but hates to drive on long road trips in a loud car,I would go the rental route.

94169 obd2 scanner for 50 bucks or so,or they will match the online 39 buck price if you have a store near you and ask the manager.
