E320 wagon starting problems. please help
After driving for a bit, especially after freeway driving, the car just wont start. Engine turns over fine, so its not the battery. If I leave it alone for between 15 min. to 1 hour,it starts right up, & runs fine. Until I turn it off again, then same thing. Has new fuel filter, just had 90,000 mile service. any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Thankyou

RE: E320 wagon starting problems. please help
I had the same problem in my E320 wagon moadel 1995. Turn out to be the fuel relay which is situated on the driver side in the engine compartment near the break booster. The moment it was changed the problem had gone.
Try it and keep us informed.
Best of luck

check your fuel pressure regulator its located in the back of your fuel rail is how to check it is by removing the vacuum line to it a tapping it with a hammer with the car off. vacuum line removed if any gas comes on there is your problem.

Dear Graydon
Once you open the hood look at the two fuse boxes which are near the brake boster as shown in the pic. Remove the first box which is there with a clip only, secondly remove the second one which is attached with four screws. For that remember to take the engine hood at 90 degrees so that you can easily remove the second box cover in which you will find the fuel relay. for your convenince i have attached the pic of the relay. Change it by the new one. I am quite hopeful that the problem will go away.
Best of luck

sounds much more like a crank position sensor going out. they are one of the most common problems with benz's. they get hot after the engine warms up and cuts out. they wont always set a CEL. remove the sensor and hook up a ohm/multimeter. then apply heat through a heat gun and watch to see if it suddenly goes open circuit.
