E320 ECU help please
HI all.
I have a problem with my 97 E320. the car is located in Indonesia. It needs ECU replacement. The part number is 017 545 2632. Can I replace it with ECU from the US model? since the car in indonesia has no catalytic converter. The chasis no is WDB2100556A3397916 and the engine no is 104 995 620 79114. I found ECU for e320 avail at e-bay but the part no is different. Could I use the US part for the car??? Thank you for your help.

Dear Oh Lord,
Thank you for your reply.
The car has a high idle (1300 Rpm and drop to 1100 in gear). The 2nd and 3rd gear (automatic) give small jerk. Thus I brought it to the local mercedes dealer and they tried to find the problem. After few days playing with it they thought that I need to replace the SLID but after We put a good SLID for a test, the problem with the idle is still there then they decided to install new ECU for test only and all of the problem goes away except for the small jerk on the gear shift. The problem with it is that the ECU cost more than $ 3000 US. Is it true that the ECU always has problem? The car only has 45K on the mileage.
Your help is greatly appreciated

Is it showing any codes check engine light?
have you tried to reset the ecu and the whole car?
I will take your numbers to a friends w210 wrecking yard and see if he can run that ecu number down if the reset dosen't work.

Dear Ohlord,
I called the shop as the car is still in the shop. They claimed that the already reset the ECU using their computer system. As for the codes, they did not remember and will try to print it for me tommorrow. I appreciate your help. Thank you

I had contacted the shop but they wont tell me what light are showing during the diagnostic. They claimed that the star system diagnostic is only 60% accurate and insist on the change of the ECU
any thought? Thanks
any thought? Thanks
Go to another shop.Or ask for the codes again. If they know what they are doing they should be able to tell if an ecu is good or bad.
If you cant find a proper used one to install will they not charge you if they install a new ecu and it does not solve the problem(I think not)so if you can take it to another shop or dealer and get a second opinion. These shops that guess at a solution using in your case thousands of hard earned money should be put out of business.
Get those codes and post them before they do any more work.
