Default E320 Avantgarde Airmatic System

I had to sent my 2003 Avantgarde E320to the local MB dealer because of problems with the Airmatic system. They are telling methey need to replace all four shock absorbers and want to charge me $2.5K for the front ones (the pair) and $5.5K for the rear ones (the pair). This sounds outrageous !!! Is the price right? Where can I get cheaper shock absorbers?

Regards

My '04 E-320 airmatic system started to act up and kept reading "visit workshop" on the dash display. The dealer wanted to replace the compressor and the shocks for $7000! Turned out to be a broken wire in the driver's front wheel well plug that is in the harness to the compressor that controls the sensors for the ride leveling! My mechanic said that it appeared to be a defect in the wire harness length that put too much stress on it when the car was placed under load and it broke the wire. Works fine now and I saved $6820!
