Just ordered aftermarket tailights for 96 E320..clear on top red on bottom, and noticed it is the opposite on my oem taillights..doesn't this mean I won't have reverse lights? Anyone else done this?

nah...they're not upside down. just that these are 'new style' tails and of the design consistent with post 99 W210s.
when you plug in the connectors, the wiring/traces simply link up with the proper lights. ergo, your back up (aka reverse) lights
which used to be the bottom half of the oval lens, now becomes the upper, clearer portion of that trunk (vs fender) lens
system.

now, dont be surprised if they don't fasten right up to your car. it is possible and commonly reported that these new tails
may need to be shaved a bit in order to clear all the metal work on the trunk lid. if so, email me for how-to to resolve
this.

i have 99 E320, which came with oval trunk lens. i picked up 00 E55 tails of the design in your link but it required a few
mins of plastic shaving. the clear (not tinted) tails in your link were used by E320s....and the tinted one used by E55s.

I'm glad this string was posted! I had been wondering the same thing. Ordered lights for my '97 today.
