Default Clock/Temperature lights

Hi Everyone, I have a 2001 E430. I hope somebody can give me some help. Lately the illumination for the clock and temp have intermittently displayed only partially. It's not like bulbs are burned out, because sometimes the display will show 100% of the numbers and other times it may show only partially. It's not always the same parts of the number that come and go. Any help or advice would certainly be appreciated. Also, because of cell phone I unhooked and removed the car phone that came with the car. Now The Malfunction code SOS displays. Is there an easy way to disable this display? Thanks

if the pixels are fading in and out and the bulbs for the back light are ok youll need to get a new cluster or Ive heard from this forum that there are places that can sell you a repair circuit board to fix yourself. If you do a search youll find some info. there are bulbs for the clock but the pixels do go bad too.
