If its a faulty control unit & I bought the car new in Aug'2001, do you think it will still be under warranty?

I will be ashame for Merc to have such a bad quality. If its warranted I will not take the part apart

I have remove Fuse no. 4 & 7 for the Air Conditioner but the AC Blower continue blasting away. Does this conclude its the AC Control Unit Faulty & not the Regulator ?

Hi again,

I finally manage to pull the AC Control Unit off. Attached are the pics I have taken. Surprisingly with the AC Control Unit disconnected, the Blower still kept blasting away. Is it back to the Regulator or even the Thermo Sensor Switch Faulty?

Can some one pls lead me in the right direction very much appreciated.

According to the chart I posted earlier, Fuse no.8 is behind the passenger seats?

My part number is 210 830 31 85, is this earlier or later version? Seems with this Control Unit remove the Blower still kept going, does this conclude its not the Control Unit? If not, then whats the possibly faulty part?

okay, this is what you would do.

remove the a/c control unit and check for the part number first.

part number A210 830 85 85 and later means it's modified version and no known problem as what you got.
if in doubt, post here and i'll check.

then... look for the batch. as of Q33, it means that it is new and modified version also. lower than Q33 means it is faulty which it cannot be switched off even if the ignition key was removed... and it also discharges the battery.

don't just replace it with a new one without confirming first.

beside the battery, under rear seat.

yours is fine. it's the new modified parts already. so no problem with it.

the only thing left is the regulator.

Sleepwalker,

Thanks confirming Control Unit is Ok.

Shall I now, with the AC Control Unit disconnected, I will test using the MultiMeter the 3 pin, to test the middle pin to check if its on 12Volts.

Why is the Fuse no8 on the chart stating for Adjustable Steering Column?
