I'm considering the purchase of a 1997 E320 from a coworker.

He's the second owner of this vehicle. He purchased the car with approx. 60K miles on it. Current odometer reading is 84,000 miles. The car has been very well maintained and has a flawless interior and exterior. All maintenance has been performed by MB and he has all the documentation. The AC was last charged in mid 2010, but when I got in the vehicle for a test drive, it was not blowing cold air. He noted this and thinks a may need a simple recharge. Asking price is 5K.

Despite the vehicles condition and price, I'm hesitant to pull the trigger on the purchase. I'm concerned about 1) the age of the vehicle and longterm reliability and repair costs and 2) what might being going on with the AC.

Any thoughts?
