Default Auto Transmission Fluid and Filter Change

I am ready to change my AT fluid and filter. Any special issues, other than extreme cleaniness, that i need to be aware of? Thanks.

I know where the drain is for the transmission, but not the torque converter. I assume I remove a cover plate and rotate the converter to a drain plug. Does it fill when I start the engine and put it in gear? Thanks

yes, it fills itself easily.

remove the cover, turn the torque converter and you will see the drain plug.

I paid to have my flid and filter changed about 30K miles ago, I would like to do this one myself. Would it be ok just to change the fluid and not the filter at this time?
