If you have a plastic cover that allows you to squeeze either side, then squeeze both sides simultaneously and pull towards you. If this is how your cover comes off, once this is done you gain access to the bulb. Thumb and forefinger, unscrew the bulb by turning counter-clockwise to remove the bulb holder. Replace the bulb and the re-install is the reverse of the removal. That is, if your plactic cover removes as mentioned. Hope this helps.

the plastic case comes off as you said but I can't seem to find the bulb. I'm afraid to pull anything else off. Can you include anymore details.

When you remove the plastic cover, what exactly do you see? Do you see two wires? Do you see something that looks like a black cap? If so, the bulb is inside of the black cap. Twist the black cap looking device to the left. It should unscrew or release. Once it releases, just pull it towards you. It is a lone single little holder, when you remove the cap, you remove the bulb, because the cap is the case for the bulb. If yours is made that way. If it's not, then examine it closely, to see how the guts can be remove. Trust me, it is very, very simple. Don't scare yourself by thinking that it's complicated. It's not.
