'97 E420 Transmission Fluid Change
I just spent a while reading through previous posts and DIY type info on changing the fluid in my W210. I found a ton of great info but still have a couple questions.
1. Where do I go to buy the correct MB fluid? There is so much emphasis put on using the original MB spec fluid that I want to be sure not to mess this up.
2. I understand from my research that my torque converter will have a drain plug which is great news for me. The trans pan will also have its own plug. Where do I put the new fluid? Is there a fill spot on the transmission? Also, do I put in a couple quarts at a time and then run the car to get the fluid in the TC? Does it need to be in gear to do this?
3. What parts do I need to complete this DIY? Fluid and filter? Is there a pan gasket that needs replaced?
Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks,
Brandon

I have a 2000 E320 & I have change my tranny fluid twice already. MB ATF, filter & gasket from Autohausaz.com. You will need a special dipstck to measure the fluid. You can also get them from other on line retailers.
