Default Transmission fluid change.

I'm considering of changing the transmission fluid on my 97 E320. I found the drain plug but could not locate the filler. Someone told me that the transmission oil can't be changed......is this true?...Please Help !!

Many thanks.

OMG DONT DO IT....DONT YOU DARE DO IT.....read on for more info...

anddd i was joking..(lamely of course..and yes i need a life)..actually the transmission oil can be changed..and should be changed after about 30k or so...if you find the transmission pan.. the drain plug should be right on it and also another drain plug will be visible if you have someone turn the crankshaft a bit (it will be seen toward the front of the transmission..

if you remove the pan (after you drain the oil) you can change the filter and gasket (found mine on ebay..most auto shops would) relativly moderately easy job....Ill let you know if i have a step by step guide on how to do it.

hope this helps

Thanks...
It will be great, if you would share the information with me. Cause, I won't know where or how and how much fluid do I need to refill it... back to its operational level. There's no real dip-stick to be found anywhere.........

dip stick is under the hood toward the back behind the engine on the left side facing the car. It is sealed with a little clip..unclip it..pull it out...when you add the transmission fluid..you would add it through the dipstick. Add 2 quarts with the engine off..then crank it up and let it warm up..then add up to desired level (usually 6.5 quarts or so if you drained everything) hope this helps
