Hi, I have had my E420for about a year and have had no issues with it until just this last week. Last week the car suddenly started to surge from 500-1000 rpm's only when it was idling or slowing to a stop. Otherwise it ran fine. This only lasted one day and I assumed that maybe I had gotten a bad batch of gas. Yesterday this happened again (exactly a week later and at the halfway mark on my gas tank, same as before) but this time it did not go away. It will surge from 500-1000 and from 1000-1500. Is this a vaccuum leak or maybe a fuel filter issue?? Any help is much appreciated!! Thanks!

 

what year E420?check all vacuum lines.If a 97 any obd2 codes?

Its a 97. There are no check engine lights or codes that I can see (then again, I have no idea how to check for them). Im hoping its something easy to repair... any help or ideas will be most appreciated! Thanks!
