Default 94 E320 rattle/popping noise rt side A pillar

My car has developed a nasty rattle noise in the area where the dash meets the front windshield by the post ( A pillar). I thought it was the piece of interior trim along the post, removed it and it still makes the noise. I had the windshield replaced (after the rattle had started) and thought that maybe it'll stop now-nope! I had my car into a mechanic and he had someone in the passenger seat as they drove around ,pushing, pulling on things trying to determine where this aggravating noise was coming from. The only way they got it to stop was the passenger reached out the window, grabbed hold of the corner of the hood and lifted up-noise went away. They are thinking it is the hinge or possibly bolts down in the inner fender area??
Anyone had a really annoying rattle in this area of their car?

weld seams between connecting panel and A pillar missing.

improper or missing welds at seam between hood hinge reinforcement and firewall.
because of possibly missing weld, wheel housing behind hood hinge reinforcement plate may develop cracks.

go and check it.
