Default 87 300E Sunroof issue

Did a search but could not find a solution. Gat a 1987 300E where the sunroof will tilt up and down but part way when I try to open it. I am able to close it manually with the bolt in the trunk. I am hearing that it might be a bad cable, if so how do I change it? If not then what could it be? Any help would be appreciated.

If the manual mechanism works OK without undue effort then I would suggest that it is either lack of lubrication somewhere or alternatively the supply of elctrical current to the sunroof motor is poor and the motor is not providing adequate power to complete the cycle.
Work it several times manually whilst applying lubrication at any relevant points in order to try to reduce motor loading.
My S Class roof is intended to go only part way back unless you hit the button a secong time. I don't believe your vehicle had this feature however.

Have a 300te and the roof will not tilt up from the back...noticed when i close the roof all the way, it doesn't want to seem to come all the way flush with the roof. Anyone have any ideas?
