Default 87 300E Have to start 2wice and low idle in drive

I have had very good luck here (THANKS) so I hoped I could get some info on this one.
To start with many times I start my car after 5-10 or more minutes sitting and the first time it only starts for a second then stops and I have to crank it over again then runs fine. This happens hot or cold and basically it seems the fuel line gets a bubble in it sometimes. Started happening when I had to fix the solder joint on the fuel pump relay so I tried swapping that with another and same problem. I also changed the fuel filter at that point and I did hook 12 v directly to my fuel pumps to be sure they were not dead. Cold start valve or fuel accumulator?
Next the car idles fine in neutral and park (when at 850 RPM) but in drive the idle goes to low and I want to raise it up from the 550RPM to the 650 or so that it should be at. Right now I get noise from what sounds like a hydraulic lifter in the engine that’s not getting enough oil at 500RPM but noise goes away at higher RPM and only happens in drive while holding brake. Also I get a hesitation when letting off brakes and hitting gas to start moving forward sometimes if done to quickly. Idle control valve?
Also cruse control surges. Can i try to fix this like the bad solder joint in fuel pump relay or do I have to replace module
Thanks, Andy

92 300-E with same problem. Cold start fails on first attempt. I'm wondering if it
has anything to do with the new "10% ethanol" fuel additive that gas stations have
started using lately. Didn't have the problem before.
