300E won't start very puzzling
HELP MY CAR WON'T START! The car is a 1986 300E with the L6. The car ran fine before i replaced the head gasket, but now it won't even start. I have spark at the spark plugs but the color seems to fluctuate between an orangy color and a bluish white, I also have fuel pressure going into the fuel distributor and fuel at the injectors. The timing is correct at the crankshaft and at the cam with the crankshaft at 0/1 and the head at tdc with the cam mark lines matching;
and when i try starting the car the engine starts to fire but just not enough to actually fire up. After trying to start i pulled the spark plugs and found a little gas on them and found they were a bit burnt.
I am wondering if it is one of two things; 1 the ignition coil is not putting enough spark out or 2 i'm running too lean. Either way i don't know how to figure out the problem even with my mercedes owner's bible. Any help would really really help.

right so you have spark fuel as well,check for a great vaccum pipe which is under the inlet monifold if that pipe is out no matter what you do it will never ever run,thats the first thing i would check let me no how you get on...............
Ok, so i checked all the hoses underneath (including the great big one) and they are ok. If i give the car gas (depressing the pedal) while trying to start the car, the car wants to start but just can't and when i let off it just spins the engine. Any other suggestions??
