Default Looking to buy a 2001 E320

I looking at purchasing a 2001 E320. It's the first Mercedes that I'm looking to purchase. I was wondering if there was any specific things I should look for on the car, and any problems that this model had?

Most of the recall issues had been sorted out by 01,we collectively have noted MAF sensors, cheap fix, rear window regulators, another cheap fix,and other sundry items, all pretty easy to fix if you diy.How many miles, how was it maintained?Whom are you buying it from? What price?Miles?
post the info if you have it and we as a group will apprise you if it looks good. They are great cars,if it passes muster and you buy it well price wise ,you will be very pleased!
Cool that you are a newbe even before you become an owner,Props!

I went and looked at the car today at a local dealer. it has 92000 miles, it appears to be well maintained. What concerns me is that it has an airbag fault light on. The salesman in the usual all knowing manner didn't have any idea why the light was on. Upon inspecting the exterior closely I noticed a light orange peel when i caught it right in the sun around the edges of the right front fender and rear quarter telling me that the car has been repainted and most likely in an accident. They are asking $13995 for the car, though after my inspection I have set my max at $12000. Right now i'm doin some searching to see if Ican dig up any insurance history on the car.

Run,don't walk to the nearest exit!Ask to see the title probably salvage. Most states if that light is on it has a code and you won/t pass state inspection.
this is a listing I found on crazedlist.org that lets you search all of or part of craigslist at one time ,saves you from going to each list in every town you are looking.

For sale is a 2001 MERCEDES BENZ E320. This Burgandy with Tan Leather Benz is in EXCELLENT Condition ! I purchased this from an elderly couple that bought it new in Ft. Lauderdale Florida, they bought a new Mercedes from the dealer down there. This is a beautiful driving car, I just had the A/C system updated and re-freshed this spring and blows very cold. The drivetrain has a economical 6 cylinder overhead cam engine and automatic transmission. This is a no smoker car, interior is very clean and XM radio has been added as well. If you have questions call 262-966-9879 ask for John, I am asking $14999, Offer,Hartland Wis
ask him what he means about a/c upgraded they've all been r134a for years.
in any event look elsewhere then the dealer, over priced, and you can find better deals private owner. this guy would take $13,000 if pushed.Ask how many miles, and check or have it inspected at an indie shop of your choosing, good luck on the quest for your next car.

p.s. At any price a car with a faulty srs is not worth it,dangerous, unsafe, very expensive to get fixed.
another older but less miles and they look the same.
.1998 Mercedes E320. 2 wheel drive, Tan w/ tan leather interior. Appx 55k miles. We are the second owner and the original was a snowbird who wintered in Florida. Car runs and drives perfectly and has only been in the winter snow once. Only reason for sale is another baby is on the way and the wife wants a SUV. You will not be dissappointed. Greg 414-491-6161

one more recent, point is keep shopping Don't jump at the first deal...... 61,800 Miles, Excellent Condition
Quality verified by Zimbrick Motors

Asking price: $18,900 (below KBB)

6 cylinder 3.2 liter, 215-hp
Navigation system, Integrated phone, 6 CD Changer, Heated Leather seats, Sunroof, Climate control

Call:
608-240-9420

Another dreamer using kbb as his pricing guide dealers use that to pull the wool over your eyes.they also use nada, both way off the mark in the real world. If it is in really nice shape and no wi. rust issues $13,000 tops.Cash talks
