2005 e320 trunk brake light
Well, judging from the posts on the subject, Mercedes has a problem.
My 2005 e320 cdi with 30 thousand miles has a LED trunk light that has burned out.
The dealer says not covered by warranty...The technicians advice..."Be gentle when you close the trunk" HUH???...This is a 75 thousand dollar car when new..
Another example of a MB quality control/reliability problem

It should be covered under warranty. They have to check coverage using op-codes. Physical damage, electrical damage, worn.... ect. It could be covered by one op-code but not by another. A smart technician would have checked all the op-codes. Ya maybe yours has an electrical short and maybe isnt covered with the op-code. If the "physical damage" op-code was covered, the technician could have just broken the lens and had it replaced. There are always ways around it. Hope it makes sense to you and helps.

alot of times the wires break where the harness runs down the left side of the trunk lid hinge. open the trunk pop off the plastic panel on the left side trunk hinge lower down usually where the wire tie is securing the harness to the hinge, and youll probably see that the wires are broken, also can affect trunk lid opening and tag lights. can also just be a bad 3rd brake lamp. but 75 percent of the time the wires are broken.
