Default 2004 E-320 suspension modification (to accomodate larger wheels)

Can anyone advise as to suspension modifications required in order to go from the stock 16" wheels to 17" or 18" ones?

it is called plus sizing. As long as you keep the et (offset) close to stock and don't try slipping a lot wider rubber into the wheel wells you are fine. www.tirerack.com and www.discounttire.com both have tire rim calculators.
If you lower it is when you need to consider suspension contact issues and modifications.Non 4matic you can fit up to a 275 wide rear and a 235 front with no issues if you have the proper offsets to run staggered set up.
Measure twice,install once
