I told the shop to get the same tires that are on the car already. Cobra tires. The car is only for summer use so I got just summer tires.

The shop said nothing wrong. No codes found. I asked if I could take it home?
The ABS system monitors the feasibility of the speed info it receives from the 4 wheel speed sensors. Your light presumably came on due to speed info being outside of permitted envelope because the tyres were below min diameter. So the system did what it was supposed to.
Can't remember now but I suspect I asked whether tyres were OE spec. I didn't think to ask whether they were to the canvas!
WRT where to get and what tyres to fit. Ohlord knows your market well.
I recommend only using OE brand and size tyres to be safe and take advantage of all the work MB did in testing different brands. Maybe Cobras are somewhat smaller diameter than others and this impacted your issue. Can't tell without looking up all the technical info.
Glad you have got yourself sorted.
In the UK the responsibility for tyres meeting regulation is down to the driver (with an annual check "just in case") and is based on a DAILY inspection. YES DAILY. Suspect the same is true in the USA however UNREASONABLE such a check may appear. Although wear occurs over a period of time pressure loss is entirely feasible overnight.
Just glad you (or your wife) weren't involved in an accident. YOU would have been at least partially at fault.
