I am looking to find if a newer style 4matic front diff guts would fit in a 2006 E500 4matic front diff.
I want to switch the 3.07 ratio to 2.65 ratio. Newer housing differs a lot and looks to have pinion other side of ring gear . after looking some layout it looks the drive gear in transfer case is directly to output shaft so it rotates opposite direction . Compare a chain drive transfer case or one with idler gear between input and output. (See pictures)
My questions are :
Anyone has swap gears between these generations ?
Is there a car model-application that has the 2.65 ratio with same front diff housing as 2006 E500 ?
