1999 E 300 T Diesel, while driving at any speed, the oil gauge shows "1" only, isn't suppost to show "3" ?!?!?

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and I'm in the process of buying a 1999 M-B E300 Turbo Diesel from a private seller up here in Canada but when I went for a test drive, the check engine light was on and the oil gauge needle only went as high as "1" !

Is this normal for this car to show only "1"? My other M-B cars always show "3"!

What could be the problem?!?!

P.S. - I was also wondering if I could buy a aftermarket diagnostic tool for this car? I have a tool for my new VW but I don't know if they exist for Mercedes Benz Vehicles?

Thanks In Advance Everybody!

Do Canadian cars have oil pressure gages?

Yes, the needle should move to the 3 once the engine speeds up from idle.

That is 3 Bar one bar = 14.7 psi this is very low oil pressure for any engine. It is ok at idle but as soon as you throttle up it should be 3 bar

Yeah, I knew something was wrong with it! Anyways, I am buying the car this week and should be in possession by next week, so I am going to drive it for a few days and then, if the problem is still there, I will take it to a local Indy Mechanic and have him check out to see what's wrong with it! The owner of the car won't let me have it for a day to have it checked out with a mechanic, something is fishy here! I just hope it won't be a big problem and cost too much!
