1998 E320, Door electronics work intermittently
Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum and new to Mercedes. haha Well we picked up a 1998 Mercedes E320 a couple months ago and I must say it is the coolest car I've driven. It's got 126K on it, but the older couple we bought it from took amazing care of it and always had it serviced regularly so it runs like new. Everything about the car is perfect, except the one problem they told us about. The interior electronics. When we got the car, they said that the passenger window would go up and down sometimes, but not all the time. And that sometimes the seat adjustments wouldn't work. So after owning and driving the car for a bit, the driver side window acts up too. I realized though, that when one of the windows decides not to work, none of the other door electronics work either. If the window on the driver side doesn't work, I can't adjust the seat or the mirror either. However, if the passenger side window works, the seat will work on that side and the mirror will adjust too. I'm not familiar with mercedes electronics, but this leads me to believe it must be some harness in the door, or something of the sort. I've read up on these E320's and apparently these problems are common, but I can never find anything that talks about how to fix them. I also own and old Mustang which I work on a lot so i'm fairly good with cars. If anyone could help me find some info on fixing this, or possibly point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

its one of the window motors. usually the rears go bad. its a CAN communication issue. remove the rear door panels, if you unplug one motor at a time during the time that your having the problem, then the seats and windows start working. most of the time its the rear passenger window motor is the problem. almost positve on this. ive been threw it a number of times.
