Hello:

The dashboard lights come on and stay on occasionally. When I brake, they dim or go off, when I accelerate they come back on. If I turn off the headlights or AC, they will sometimes go out. The car has never cut out on me. I have taken the car into the shop three times now for this. The alternator has tested out fine (the brushes were replaced) and a loose ground wire was fixed. Please help - this is very disquieting.

 

it still sounds like a low voltage to me.

alternator diode maybe is faulty.

 

Since all other likely causes of the light show have been exhausted, the alternator is being replaced today. I am hoping this clears the problem up. Thank you for the feedback.
