Just got a 88 300E that appeared to be in great shape. Drove it home, filled it up with gas and now it will only run for approx 10 minutes. I have emptied the gas tank, replaced the fuel filter, checked the fuel pumps, replaced the spark plugs, inspected the plug wires, ran fuel and injector cleaner through the engine while it runs, and nothing seems to help. Have been tinkering with it off and on for a week now. Typically, if the engine is cold, it will start immediately, run for the 10 minutes, then stall / die and then will just sit and crank over. Also, once it is close to operating temp, if I place the car in gear it will stall and die. If I leave the car in Park and just let it idle, then it will continue to run.
Is there something on the older MB's that will kill or stall the engine when reaching operating temp or a certain degrees? I have searched multiple resources online, but have not found anything helpful as of yet. Does anyone have experience with these or similar issues?
Thanks for any and all advice.
