Default 04' E320 Crankshaft Sensor went out

Same situation...car stopped in the middle of the road. Had it towed n' repaired and it hasn't been a prob since, however, my concern is that the wknd before, i happened to be driving around a mtn side and this had happened i'm pretty sure i would've went over the side n' it would've been lights out. I read on someone's post that there was a recall. I just want to know if n' how long i can expect this to happen again, so i'll know how much longer i have to live. This is a really really dangerous problem.

The only other problem i have occasionally is the car wont shift into the higher gears. It'll stay in the 1st or 2nd revn' high.

as far as you gears not going into high your probably pushing the shifter over manually and shifting the car into 1 or 2 and then you dont realize it. make sure the dashboard says D not 1 or 2 or 3 . you can move the shifter left or right to shift up or down.
