Default Wiper won't stop wiping

Hi Guys,

I've been searching various forums for the past couple of hours for an answer to this question. It appears that others have had this problem, but no solutions have been noted as of yet. So, here goes my attempt at getting an answer.

I have a 2000 CLK 430 Convertible. I was out driving and, after making a hard stop at a stop light, the wiper came on. It started wiping as though I had placed it in the intermittent position. I confirmed the wiper was still in the "0" but it would not stop wiping. I wondered if the car was equipped with a rain sensor that caused the problem, but it shouldn't work in the off position regardless of the presence of a rain sensor.

If anyone knows the probably cause and solution, I'd appreciate your help.

Default RE: Wiper won't stop wiping - an update

Hi Guys,

Here's a brief update. I was reading in another forum that dirt can sometimes get into the combination/wiper switch and cause problems. So I popped the cap off the switch in hopes of finding dirt and resolving my problem. To my surprise, I found no dirt at all. The assembly actually looked very, very clean. I made sure all of the parts moved properly and found nothing that would seem to cause any problems. However, when I place the cap back on the switch and stuck the key in the ignition, my problem was gone. I'm not sure if something was out of line or if the dirt popped out without me knowing it or if it was all a dream and I'm going to wake up in a few minutes to find the problem still exists. But for right now, the problem is gone.

Thanks for your help.
