Sunroof won’t close completely
I just bought a 2006 CLK500 and I’m new to the group. It’s still under warranty but I figured I’d ask before I take it in for an in warranty repair.
Two problems
1) When the roof is completely opened and I hit the button to close it, it will completely close then open again a few inches. If I hold the button forward it will close and stay closed.
2) This is the bigger problem, when fully closed the back of the sunroof is slightly popped up, enough to hear wind and I assume enough to let water in. If I hit the button to slide the roof back it lowers and retracts. There is a point when it is lowering when I can hit the button again and actually get it to close in the correct position.
I followed the instruction that I've read to reset the sunroof and I have even used the manual crank to pull it down and seal it (that works). But when using the buttons it always ends up elevated in the back when fully closed.
No biggie like I said, it’s under warranty but it’s definitely more convenient to fix it myself and avoid the drop off and pickup from the dealer.
Thanks in advance -

It was repaired under warranty from MB. For those that may ever experience these symptoms, this was the repair.
Sunroof carrier jammed and shorted motor due to binding carrier cables. Removed headliner, removed glass, cleaned and adjusted sunroof carrier tracks, replaced sunroof motor, normalized motor and performed function test to confirm repair.
