Post Power Soft Top Pump

The Power Soft Top Pump went out in my 2001 CLK 320. This device powers the top up and down. The dealer quoted $2400 for the part and $2950 including labor. It seems there must be a more economical fix. Either repair the pump mechanism or replace with an aftermarket or used part. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

ive only seen 1 pump bad in my 9 years with Benz but that doesnt mean it isnt bad. I hope for your sake thats the correct diagnosis.usually its a microswitch that is faulty or something fairly simple.

Thanks for your response. There was some stuff in the storage compartment for the top when the pump last worked. Once the top was lowered in, we couldn't get it back up. It may have been jammed, causing the pump to fail. So, the diagnosis is possibly correct, unfortunately. Any ideas on replacement or repair of the pump? Like, is there an aftermarket for used pumps?
