i have a 2000 amg clk430 and i put an new battery in it and now my radio says "code" i put the code in and now the radio says "wait"... i called the dealer and they say i have to bring it in. any ideas??? thanks in advance..

 

While I've never had this issue with my CLK, I have had it with my 99 ML 320. When you receive the "WAIT" message, you've entered the code incorrectly. I believe you're given three wrong tries before this message appears. Further entry of the code is blocked for 10 minutes; the radio has to stay on during the wait period. If you continue to enter the wrong code afterward, the wait period increases to approximately 60 minutes.

Dealers generally require you to come in to give you the code if they aren't familiar with you and the car; you have to take in something showing proof of ownership and some form of identification. If, you purchased the car fromor have serviced it with them, they typically will give you the code or confirm you have the correct code over the phone. It's just an anti-theft precaution.

Since it appears you already have the code, they may want you to bring it in so they can do it themselves. Just to be on the safe side,see if they will confirm you have the correct code before you go through the hassle of taking it in to them.
