I bought my first(only) Mercedes back in 2006 and I still drive it. I love the care (CLK320 2001, with 87000 miles on it right now).
I only had to replace the front brake pads/rotaors and battery. The car runs great and it is a fun car to drive and acceleration is great.
My dad first car was a Mercedes Benz 170 when I was a kid, it was a 1952 or 1954, I am not sure, but it was an excellent car with sucide doors! and dash was all wood and the radio was vacuum tube, I guess (it was so biggggg). The starter was actually a pedal next to clutch that you had to step on to get the car started.
