Sometimes the key fob for my 2003 CLK500 fails to open the car doors. The dealer says the key fob is working correctly but the antenna amplifier on the car needs replacing. Has anyone else had this problem? The part number for the antenna amplifier is 203 820 11 89. Does this part really cost $517.00? Is this a part an owner could buy and install or should I let the dealer perform the install? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

 

I have had 5 MB over the last 8 years with the key fob door remotes and I have noticed that there are two things that can dramatically affect its performance. The first is the condition of the batteries in the fob itself...they are cheap...$10.00 and the other is the condition and line of sight of the lenses in the door and trunk handles! I notice that when my car is clean that the remote works from a farther distance. Check this out! Good luck. Bob
