clk 430 2001 with 56k miles.. Lets start a few days ago.. I parked on a downslope.. this was the first time ever it's did this.. I tried to start it like 6 times and would not start.. I walked away and came back about 2 min's later and it started up and check engine light was on.. I went directly to autozone and they decoded it and it said crankshaft sensor.. but when i was leaving autozone the light was off and never came back on.. Today I was driving home from work and I was getting on the interstate and had to do a 180 I turn right and had a 1/2 tank of gas but i had to turn slower than normal due to some slow pokes and all of a sudden my engine cut off completely.. I had to pull off to the side and put it in park and restart and no problems..

lets rule out some things..
had oil change recently, new airfilters in the past 1000 miles, only 10k on the fuel filter..

and by the way there was no check engine light or malufunction light or message on after this today..

I wish it was broke so its' not a mystery im scared each time i get off or on an interstate where these loop turns are now!! help!

 

replace the crank position sensor...as it does not throw a stored code for it

If the CEL was on make sure that you write down the code then look it up

 

Yes, these are the symptoms of the crank position sensor. It gets more unpredictable the longer you wait. Get a new part and be done with it. At my dealer the part is only about $100. Mine did the same exact thing. This was one of two repairs I had during the last 200,000 miles.

yeah it was the crank sensor... The part was 90 something and I had to get another sensor replaced because it was on the brink as the check engine was throwing that code too.. it was about 340.00 for both sensors and labor.. oh well..
