if its a convertible, the door jam switch could be broken so the window will not go up the last half inch cause it thinks the door is open.

Default CLK side windows

Hi,

Thanks for your help - I have solved the mystery. It is my wife's car and I am ashamed to admit that I did not know the rear side windows opened having only driven it once. Although the panel switch was in the inoperative position the window had somehow lowered!
All I had to do was move the switch to operative, raise the window the2-3mm and allwas well.

Goes to show the saying is correct " there's no fool like an old fool".

Thanks to all who helped.

Geoff
