a friend of mine has a 2001 clk 320 and she failed the california smog because the check engine light doesn't come on. i checked all the fuses. i can only think its the actual bulb itself. is there an easy way to take the dash cluster out. or do i need to start digging out the from the bottom of the dash like every other car.

 

Mercedes have dash cluster hooks. They just slip in on either side of the cluster and it pulls out.

 

does the light comes on with the ignition on second position engine not running?
