Default Car not giving full power

Hi everybody,

As you can see im very new on here. Bought a CLK 320 today and already i've noticed a problem. If i park the car up and put my foot right down on the accelerator it will only go to about 4000 rpm. Also when im out driving it and i put my foot right down it doesn't pull away like i would expect it to, feels very low on power for some reason. I'll try and find time tomorrow to get it to a mechanic but i thought i might put a post on here and see what you guys thought. Thanks in advance

you will find that it is hitting the rev limiter that kicks in when the car is stationary. (revs bouncing up and down?)

Is it an auto?, mine would do this from time to time, acompanied by a miss fire and the tiptronic box would lock in 'D' until i shut it off and re started it, then it went for a bit.

Turned out to be the MAF sensor, its a common fault, but dont buy the cheap ones from ebay, there crap, get a propper bosch one.

if it is that Its easy to spot on the STAR machine if you take it to a dealer or indi.

Go on ebay to see the part, its a black tube about 4" long and 3" dia. on the left side of the engine with a multi plug, pull the plug and go for a spin, if its better its the MAF!
