Default Can anyone help with rear window seal?

Hi
I've just collected a new seal for the leading edge of the drivers side (RH) rear window on my 1998 CLK230 cabriolet (that's the seal on the rear window that the front window seals against).
The dealer told me that it was an easy fit and that it would be obvious how to fit it once I got the new seal.
It looks as though it slots under the window trim but I can't tell whether I need to remove the entire trim piece of if I can fit the new seal with the trim in place. I am reluctant to just rip the old one off as it still works OK (although it is split at the bottom) and the new one cost over £40 so I don't want to damage that one!
I would hate to strip the old seal out only to find that I need a special tool or need to remove the rear window or need another part to carry out the job.
Has anyone changed this rubber seal before and can they help please?
Thanks in advance

Wow - this was 6 years ago!!

The seal just pulls out from the top of the window and the new one pushes down (make sure you lubricate it first or the last cm or so is very difficult!). I don't remember there being any real problems after all (although it was a long time ago).

Default Glad you replied

Thank you music man..
I am glad you replied.
Do you still have the car? I drive a 2001 clk 430 and have this leftside seal broken. Could not find one in the junk yards where all cars come half-cut from the Japanese markets. The stealership is asking almost $200 for a new piece.
How much did you get it for? Was it a new seal?
Thanks

I sold the car a few years ago. It was a 1998 clk230 that had been my local dealers personal car. I bought it when it was about 5 years old with 13k on the clock. It was like new and had been serviced but not really driven.
If I recall I paid about £42 for the seal from a main dealer.
