Default adding subs to fiber optic syste,

Hey out there!!! I want to add 2 subs and amp to my 2002 430 clk which obviously has the fiber optic setup. Does anyone know if taping into the rear speakers for low level inputs will effect anything? Where should I get 12vdc, ground, and the ignition on to turn on the amp?

This thread will quickly go over my head, but...

I wouldn't connect the sub amp to any speakers. You need to connect to a pre-amp out or sub out on the head unit and use a crossover to get the low-level signal. Factory head units normally don't have these outputs.

I see. But, my point is that you may not get a full signal to your sub amp if you tap into a signal after it's gone through a crossover designed for another purpose. It won't be a true pre-amp out plug even though you can physically use it as one. A true pre-amp out doesn't have an amplified signal. Your connection will. It should be a flat, full range, unpowered signal to realize the full potential of the sub system. Probably doesn't matter for your use, I guess.

How many amperes does the amplifier draw? You may want to connect it directly to the battery with a heavy gauge wire and an in-line fuse. An amp with enough power to drive two subs may be too powerful to do otherwise.

I added amp and sub, my RCA from my amp is connected to a converter to my rear speakers. I tried hooking the remote wire to the cd-changer but then my amp stays on constant. Do you know where I can hook my remote wire to? I am trying to keep everything in the trunk. Thanks.
