does anyone know how to correctly install the fiber optic lines from head unit to cd changer in trunk??? i have a 1999 sl500. dealer told me $169 2 weeks ago, today they tell me $1100.
got to love benz of tucson. perhaps there is a book or cd?
anyway, thanks to this forum i did the $3000 of work they wanted me to do for $160...thank you very very much for all of your previous posts.

BUT do i have to rip out thye console and or seats, back seat, etc, and how?? i tried a little last weekend but saw it was going to be difficuly unless i knew the 'how' of the project- once you know it is easy...believe me i am extrememly gratefull for all i have gotten, just a little more please and a very big please at that. i hope i can give back now to those who post here from my experience. thanks again!!!!!! george

to answer Sleepwalker, i have started to go through the other Sl500 posts and try to leave the most usefull info. i have to offer, which compared to you is not much, but i am trying to help in my own limited way. after doing some repairs on my sl and saving a ton of $ it seems my fears on working on this car was incorrect, so far the repairs i have done have been extremely easy...but again, knowing how to do the job based on what i have read here by other posters and their experiences,,,it is the knowing how that makes repairs easy- the actual labor is based on the knowledge of the job...do a search for how many posts i have made, at least trying to contribute something, i hope others benefit to some extent. I will continue to read on and add and offer my 2 cents as it seems appropriate. hope this clarifies a little,,,, but again, i still dont even know where my horn, which does not work is! lol, sad but true.
the dealer told me $571 to do my strut mounts...i read alittle and do it myself for $142 in parts in about an easy hour...this is what this forum does for me and others...i offer my sincerest thanks to other's help and expertice with my car. thanks again, George
