Default 2003 CLK500 footwell flap actuator

Has anyone gone through the trouble of changing the L/R Footwell Flaps Actuator?

My basic question is whether the actuator can be accessed by removing the center console panel, radio, climate controls?

thanx for any help

I have change out M2/10 Left footwell. This one I had to take the entire dashboard out, dropping the steering column and the metal framing behind it (to gain access to the stepper motor screws).

For M2/11 Right footwell. I'm about to do this one in the upcoming month. I think this one is the glovebox, center console and the trim piece w/cup holder between the glove box and the center console.

Thanx for the reply. I was afraid the left side of the dash needed to be removed. How difficult of a job was that? How long did it take? Also, would you happen to have the part # for the left footwell actuator?

thanx

It took me and my friend 6 - 7 hours. This was the first that we done it on a Benz (If I have to do it again maybe 4-5 hours). Most of that time is locating where the bolts, screws are (researching the location online). Just remember there is a bolt under a plastic clip on the passenger side dashboard where the top defrost vent closer to the pillar and maybe more like in the middle and on the driver side (can't remember). The bolts for the metal frame that set's in front of the stepper motor. To get access to those bolts is you have to remove the front wiper, cowl and the bolts are going thru the firewall can't remember the size of those nuts. For me it was not hard but it's very time consuming.
