I have a 2004, 170 CDI, A-Class. (44 300 miles) When I drive it till it warms up. (2 miles) The battery light comes on, and the power steering cut out. Manual driving. I stop switch the engine off, start again and drive then quite far, 10 + miles before it sometimes happen again. If steering is turned from side to side when car is warm, stationary, it also happen.

I was told to replace the fluid, which might help. Also replace power steering. Can get 2nd hand for £100/90 days warranty. I consider a new one.

Can there be anything else which can cause this or is this in short what I have to do.

I will appreciate any advice.
