No central locking w168 a190 :( new car
Hi
Ive just brought a 1999 a190 w168.
So far if had loads of problems. This one is my main concern though.
I assumed when i purchased the car it was the batteries in the key fobs.
I have no remote locking from the fob or when i turn the key in the driver door. The locking works from inside the car by pushing the button by the hazzard switch and the doors unlock when a door is open so the vacuum system is all ok.
I took it to a specialist today to have a start test done and they have diagnosed it as the DAS Control unit faulty and one of my keys. They have told me i have to get it done by the dealer which makes sense but its going to cost £400 + vat for the control unit alone.
1. Is there any cheaper way round this?
2. Where is it located?
3. Is the DAS control unit the ECU in the car or are they two seperate items.
Any help will be much appreciated
Thanks
Dave
