Default AIR FLOW SENSOR HELPPPP!!!!!

Hi All

I had my A Class 1600 serviced but the engine light keeps coming on and i have been told this is the air flow sensor. Apparently it is a expensive part and i am very short of funds what with xmas round the corner. I dont need the whole part i just need a piece if this does anyone know where i can buy a piece without buying the whole lot.

Any help or information you can give me would be fantastic just i need to get this sorted out asap as when i use the break the car almost stools, not good with three kids in the car

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me

Default RE: AIR FLOW SENSOR HELPPPP!!!!!

This is not an uncoomon problem with the first series A-Class (1997 - 2004). Our A160 had a similar problem and still has an 'issue' with the Engine Control Unit (ECU). There is an air-mass sensor in the air intake which is linked to the ECU. The senso itself may not be at fault. It could be the ECU. WE will be sending ours off (via our non-Merc franchise) to a place in UK for re-mapping this year (2008) - this will cost a few hundred quid but still cheaper than a new ECU. The specialist in the UK can turn them round within 3 days (apparently!). V.important to check that it is just sensor and not ECU on your car that need sorting out.
