Default RE: CL 600 Brake Job. bad squealing, please help!

I contacted EBC and they replied that they would send me the shims for my pads. It came and the shims they sent were actually some sort of adhesive-backed vinyl/rubber material that you're supposed to cut to shape and install to the back of the pads. Well, the redstuff pads already had that stuff glued to the back, and I installed the clip-on metal shims that came with the Pagids.

I decided to drive out east (Southampton, about 70 miles each way) to overhaul the brakes again and install the supplied "shims" with a thorough cleaning. On the way, I tried what cl600guy suggested. Whaddya know! The squealing was almost gone. So, lazy as I am, I just washed the car and drove back home, doing the same thing, basically dragging the brakes at 70mph for 20 secs at a time. I'm happy to report that the squealing is gone. Occasionally, I'll get a little peep just before a stop, but otherwise, they're quiet. I guess the lesson here is patience in bedding in. It's probably 200 miles since the redstuff install. Perhaps this new material just needs a longer time to bed in properly. It's just weird since the last brake job using greenstuff pads and Zimmermann rotors didn't squeal from the get go.

Now the challenge of getting a warranty refund from Pagid...
