1997 E320 Brake Rear Brake Job
Getting ready to replace rear rotors and pads. Noticed the left rotor was scored an will need to be replaced.
Autozone had a Duralast brand, are these a quality part? I want a quality brand, any suggestions?
I called the local Mercedes dealer who quoted me $73 for each rotor and $96 for pads. When I asked about the sensors, he said this model/VIN didn't have the sensor. I see post where all reference a sensor. Could this be an early model without sensors?
By the way, the brake wear light warning light never came on. maybe a buld is out.

Anti-squeal lubricant recommended?
Plan to replace the rear rotors and pads this weekend. Purchased the pads from the local Mercedes dealer and noticed no anti-squeal lubricant was included.
Is that by design? Should anti-squeal lubricant be used? If yes, any particular brand recommended?
I had an Audi on which I always had to use anti-squeal lubricant.

Having trouble getting the disc off the hub. I backed the emergency brake aduster wheel as far as it could go. Even turned it the opposite it way to be sure and it put more drag on the disc.
Is there another tip? Tapped the face and around the bolt circle with a rubber mallet.

If you did:
Beat the junk rotors with a five pound sledge to break them loose.
When they are loose on the hub, treat them as a giant nut, and try to unscrew it from the brake shoes.

I was able to get them off (3lb sledge) prior to reading your tip. Thanks for the advice anyway. I' had no problem with backing off the e brake star screw. I'll remember the "giant nut" tip if I have a problem the next time.
