Default Windshield Wiper motor problem

I have a '94 C220, and when I turn the windshield wipers off they do not return to the original resting position, they come to rest at various points across the windshield. I have replaced the fuses, but no luck, also the intermittent feature only takes the blades to one side of the windshield and stops and then rests and then returns them to about 3/4 of the way back as so forth... Any ideas what might be causing this?

1. Cable or cable connections loose, broken or disconnected,
2. Faulty relay,
3. Faulty wiper motor.

Plantonmid, thank you for replying... because it is an intermittent problem, I am thinking that it could be the relay, where is that located? Is it next to or in the wiper assembly housing? Also my cruise control feature works sporadically as well, could that be tied into the same electrical tier?

lube the wiper arm shock/shaft that moves in and out. they dry upand need lube. there is a cover that will pop off at the bottom of the arm and you will be able to see the piston/shaft that moves put some antiseize on it and if that doesnt fix it then you will need a motor or a new wiper transmission or gearing.
